In my role I enjoy… forming purposeful, strategic partnerships with education, industry and local government to drive better outcomes for our young people and community.
My first job was… tutoring in guitar and mathematics, where I learnt the importance of good preparation and patience!

In my role I enjoy… leading a team that works hard to get the best outcomes for young people, the community and local industry. 
My first job was… at Hoyts cinemas. I loved the variety of the role, learnt how to upsell and got free movie tickets and popcorn!

YMCP Program Coordinator + mentor matchmaker

In my role I enjoy… getting to know young people and their unique stories and goals, then matching them with the perfect mentor.
My first job was… making sandwiches at a café. Here I learnt the power of one’s network, because it was my friend who worked there who put in a good word to the boss.

In my role I enjoy… connecting and partnering with business and education alike to create awesome opportunities into work.
My first job was… an indoor soccer coach and referee. Learnt a lot about dealing with customers, young people and families.

Youth Employment Pathways Project (YEPP) Coordinator

Karen oversees the Youth Employment Pathways Project, that works directly with young people to develop, design and facilitate youth employment preparation workshops for unemployed or under-employed young people in the North-West metropolitan area of Melbourne.

Moonee Valley VET Cluster Coordinator + Opera Buff

In my role I enjoy… analysing VETDSS offerings at school and regional level to support the collaboration and expansion of course offerings across multiple schools.
My first job was… at Music Junction, Blackburn.  I did work experience there and they gave me a job in administrative assistance before promoting me to Print Music Sales.

David Fisher

Project Support Officer + photocopier breaker/fixer

In this role I enjoy… assisting the team behind the scenes. I get to see all the different aspects of mmvllen’s work in the community and find myself learning new things every day.
My first job was… a bicycle round delivering chemist prescriptions. I enjoyed catching up with regular customers; even though I couldn’t always stop for tea and biscuits!

Our Committee of Management

Mmvllen is a community association led by a volunteer Committee of Management, who are responsible for establishing our organisations direction. The committee is made up of experienced people from government, industry, education and training throughout the local community.

Who can become a member?

Our memberships are free and open to any individual who has an interest in youth education, training and/or employment in the area of Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley.
